Contribution to climate protection
Steinebach biomass heating plant opened
F.M. Hämmerle focuses on sustainable heat generation with new biomass heating plant. As a result, the Dornbirn-based company saves around 1700 tons of CO2 per year.
The heating plant has now been completed after a construction period of just nine months. The Dornbirn-based real estate company has invested a total of around nine million euros in the construction of the biomass heating plant and is thus making an important contribution to climate protection. F.M. Hämmerle will be able to save around 1700 tons of CO2 per year - the equivalent of around 670,000 liters of heating oil per year. "We can now supply the majority of our residential and commercial buildings in Dornbirn independently and with environmentally friendly, CO2-neutral heat. We have thus set the course for the responsible and sustainable development of our company," emphasizes Tobias Forer-Pernthaler, CEO of F.M. Hämmerle.
Milestone for sustainable energy supply
This project not only benefits the company itself, but also over 500 private and commercial customers: 413 households and 141 business units can currently be supplied with self-generated heat. A good half of the fuel required comes from the company's own forest. The rest is sourced from partners within a maximum radius of 20 to 30 kilometers. Through the cooperation with Dornbirn-based Energiewerk Ilg, F.M. Hämmerle has also expanded its own biomass network: the Steinebach biomass heating plant can stop generating heat in summer when demand is lower and instead obtain heat from Ilg. In return, the customers of the Ilg energy plant are supplied with additional heat in winter when demand is higher. "For our town, this is an important milestone on the way to an increasingly sustainable energy supply," says Mayor Andrea Kaufmann.
