33-year-old was trapped in the wreckage of an accident
The fire department siren blared in Perg (Upper Austria) on Sunday evening. A 33-year-old female driver skidded on a long bend and crashed head-on into oncoming traffic. The woman was trapped in her wreck and had to be rescued by the emergency services after being seriously injured.
A 33-year-old Romanian citizen from the district of Perg was driving her car on the Münzbacherstraße L1423 from Perg in the direction of Münzbach at around 7.35 p.m. on Sunday. At the end of a long left-hand bend in the municipality of Perg, she skidded for unknown reasons, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with the oncoming car of a 20-year-old woman from the district of Perg.
Serious injuries
The 33-year-old was trapped in her vehicle and had to be rescued by the Perg and Naarn fire brigades. She was seriously injured and taken to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz after initial treatment. The 20-year-old was injured to an indeterminate degree and was taken to the accident hospital in Linz after initial treatment.
Emergency case practiced the day before
The day before, the Perg fire department, together with the Naarn fire department and the Red Cross, carried out an exercise on the subject of "Traffic accident with several trapped persons". There was no way of knowing that an emergency would occur the very next day.
