Cause determined after sea of flames in bread factory

On Sunday night, a devastating fire broke out on the site of the former hammer bread factory in Schwechat (Lower Austria). The cause has now been determined: Someone set the fire.

Several fire departments battled the flames at the former bread factory in Schwechat in the district of Bruck an der Leitha for hours on Sunday night, the Krone reported. The last time there was a fire on the site was in March 2023. This time, the directly adjacent, vacant building caught fire.

Arson suspected
The cause of the fire has now been determined: According to the police, the fire was started by a "foreign ignition source" - in short, it is likely to be arson. Investigations into the case are in full swing.
