On a descent from a mountain pasture
Car plunged 40 meters over a slope – two injured
Two locals were injured in a vehicle crash in Weerberg in the Tyrolean district of Schwaz on Sunday evening. The driver (56) had left the road with the vehicle in a bend.
The 56-year-old and his 42-year-old co-driver were driving out of the valley from the Weidener Hütte in Weerberg via the Innerberg forest road at around 8.15 pm on Sunday. The accident then occurred in the last hairpin bend just above the Weerberg community power station: the driver went over the edge of the road and the car plunged down a steep, wooded embankment, overturning several times.
Both men taken to hospital
A witness alerted the emergency services. The Weerberg fire department had to cut the two injured car occupants out of the wreck with the help of rescue shears. The ambulance then took the 56-year-old to Innsbruck Hospital and the 42-year-old to Hall in Tirol Hospital. Both were hospitalized. The driver of the vehicle was tested for alcohol and tested positive.
The car was completely destroyed in the crash. The fire department had to rescue the wreck under difficult conditions.
