Christoph Baumgartner was delighted after his world record goal. He had got off to a good start with his sequence of steps and then just gave it a go. According to the motto: "A finish after a few seconds isn't bad either".

Immediately after the end of the Austrian national soccer team's test match against Slovakia, the Leipzig legionnaire commented on his world record goal. The 24-year-old said: "We've often considered these options."

Today, the new world record man immediately realized that it could work: "It worked out well with the sequence of steps and I got into the run. I then thought to myself: Try it! A finish after a few seconds wouldn't be bad either."

The result: after six seconds, his shot landed in the Slovakian goal. The Lower Austrian not only scored the fastest goal in the history of the red-white-red selection, but also in a men's international match worldwide.
