Knife attack in front of ice cream store: arrest!

Arrest after the knife attack on Reumannplatz in Vienna on Sunday: The handcuffs clicked for a 20-year-old Syrian after he stabbed a 21-year-old.

As reported in detail, a group of youths had harassed several women on Reumannplatz in Vienna's Favoriten district on Sunday. A courageous witness rushed to help and confronted the young men.

One of the men then pulled out a knife and attacked the 21-year-old. The victim suffered cuts and stab wounds to his back and thigh. The perpetrator fled the scene.

The 21-year-old was taken to hospital, but his life was not in danger at the time.

In the course of intensive investigations by the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, a 20-year-old Syrian was arrested in an apartment. Possible murder weapons have also been recovered.
