Two fire departments needed
Dispute with landlord: Apartment flooded with water
Vindictiveness and a dispute culminated in a break-in and damage to property: An angry ex-tenant flooded the apartment!
If a movie were to tell the story, the viewer might think: a little implausible, but so strange that it's entertaining. But it's true. And not entertaining.
A 32-year-old from Klagenfurt had a dispute with a former landlord. So he used a tool to break open the toilet window of the basement apartment in the apartment building, entered the apartment and turned on all the taps - not without first blocking all the drains!
Water was ten centimeters high
The crime must have taken place between Friday and Sunday, and on Sunday morning the homeowner (54) noticed the flooding: the water in the apartment was a good ten centimetres high!
The fire departments from Köttmannsdorf and Maria Rain arrived with 24 men to pump out the water. Clean-up work is still pending. The damage amounts to at least 10,000 euros.
It is not yet clear whether anything was stolen. The suspect has not yet been questioned.
