How farming can succeed despite the crisis
High cost pressure, long working hours and a lot of bureaucracy with little gratitude: no wonder more and more farmers are giving up their profession. In the Bucklige Welt region, there is a model farm that has been handed over smoothly to the next generation and is now being continued with great enthusiasm.
Julia Trimmel-Angeler took over her parents' organic farm this January. She continues to run the farm in Kirchschlag with passion and combines modern work with old farming traditions. Another advantage: "I can be there for our three children and am always close by," she reports. And according to the dedicated farmer, she also appreciates being able to organize her work relatively freely.
"All organic" since 1995
The courageous farmer and mother has taken over a farm with a long (organic) tradition: The farm has been run organically since 1995. Since 2012, the farm has specialized entirely in rearing organic chickens. 1500 chicks of both sexes roam around the farm and the meadows. Of course, the hygiene regulations and medical care on site are also strictly adhered to.
After twelve weeks, there are fresh, ready-to-cook organic chicken. The slaughter takes place right on the farm. Trimmel-Angeler: "The farm and its creatures are very close to my heart." And the next generation will probably take over later with the same enthusiasm.
