Missing after party: Drone locates missing man

Hangover mood after an exuberant night of partying: In Zöbing, worried friends and relatives alerted the emergency services in the early hours of Sunday morning. A 25-year-old man had made his own way home - but apparently never found his way back. The fire department also searched for the missing man from the air.

Drones have become an indispensable tool for the police and fire department, especially when searching for missing persons. This is also shown by the current case. While Florianis from Zöbing immediately began combing the area, their comrades from Krems arrived with a "flying eye". The four-person team set up the landing site for the drone on site - and soon afterwards immediately located several sources of heat.

Internet provided the decisive clue
At second glance, however, the "heat spots" around the festival grounds were actually deer or beavers. However, the "air support" team was not discouraged by this. Shortly after the disappearance, the wanted man was still in contact with one of his friends via social media. Based on this information, the location was changed and the search continued around the Zöbing water tower.

A short time later, the infrared system struck again. And this time it was actually a person in a white shirt - the person they were looking for! The coordinates were relayed by radio to the ground troops, who were finally able to find the missing 25-year-old safe and sound. He had lost his way in a vineyard.
