ÖVP federal party debt-free again for the first time

According to its own statements, the ÖVP federal party is debt-free for the first time in more than 20 years. The consolidation path introduced a few years ago has led to a complete reduction of all liabilities, General Secretary Christian Stocker told APA.

Particularly in view of the upcoming election campaigns, this is "extremely good news" from the People's Party's point of view.

"Economic success"
At the beginning of the year, the ÖVP was completely debt-free for the first time since 2002.

The current Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer had initiated the reduction of liabilities within the federal party in his role as General Secretary at the time, said Stocker. Federal Managing Director Alexander Pröll had also "contributed significantly to this economic success".
