Holidaymaker in the Bregenzerwald killed in an accident

Early on Saturday morning, the body of an 85-year-old vacationer from Germany was discovered in Damüls in the Bregenzerwald (Vorarlberg). The woman had not returned after a walk and was considered missing.

According to the police, she was found dead in a stream bed after an eight-hour search in the early hours of Saturday morning. When she did not return to her accommodation on Friday, her landlord first searched for her in vain and then initiated the rescue chain. 

Fell 180 meters into the depths
According to the mountain rescue team, the woman probably slipped and fell about 180 meters over steep terrain into the so-called Plattentobel.

Around 120 people from Damüls and surrounding communities were involved in the search operation. The woman had been vacationing in the village for decades and was considered to be familiar with the area.
