Girl (9) fell to the ground while playing on a wall

Terrible scenes may have taken place on a Tyrolean playground on Saturday afternoon. On the Seegrube in Hötting, a nine-year-old was climbing up a stone wall when a stone suddenly broke and the girl fell five meters. The falling stone hit the girl on her upper body.

The nasty incident occurred on Saturday at around 1.40 pm on the Seegrube at around 1900 meters above sea level. A local family had taken the Nordkette cable car up there. At a playground, the nine-year-old daughter climbed up a stone wall unsecured.

"When the girl was holding on to a stone about 50 cm in size at the transition from the wall to the meadow area, it broke out of the wall," the police said. The little girl then fell a good five meters and was also hit on the upper body by the falling stone.

Girl airlifted to hospital
A doctor who was present at the time administered first aid to the seriously injured girl. The nine-year-old was finally flown to Innsbruck Regional Hospital by emergency helicopter. Further investigations will follow.
