Unfortunately, there is no good news in the case of the 66-year-old hiker from Vorarlberg who has been missing in the Rätikon since Wednesday: A cross-border search operation on Saturday was also unsuccessful.

As reported by the "Krone", the man is said to have marched from the "Schattenlagant" hiking parking lot (municipality of Brand) towards the Nenzinger Himmel on Wednesday, after which his trail was lost. He was finally reported missing on Friday, whereupon a large-scale search operation was immediately launched - however, this had to be called off in the evening due to the onset of darkness.

Large-scale operation at the border area
On Saturday, a large contingent combed the border area between Vorarlberg and Switzerland once again. The Brand and Nenzing mountain rescue teams, the crew of the "Libelle" police helicopter, the Bludenz police and the Vorarlberg-Süd alpine police were involved in the operation, supported by the Graubünden cantonal police and the crew of a Swiss "Rega" rescue helicopter.

New clues sought
After the area in question had been searched several times on the ground and from the air without success, the operation was finally called off at 1 pm. According to the police, the search will be continued as soon as new information about the possible whereabouts of the 66-year-old is received.
