Misolic in the quarter-finals of the Mauthausen Challenger
Styrian Filip Misolic has reached the quarter-finals of the Tennis Challenger in Mauthausen!
The 22-year-old finalist from last year defeated the number 7 seeded Frenchman Ugo Blanchet 3:6, 6:3, 6:2 in the round of 16 on Wednesday and will now face the top seeded 23-year-old Francisco Comesana. He won an Argentinian duel with Manuel Cerundolo 6:1, 6:2.
Schwärzler/Oberleitner win Austria's opening duel
There were unexpected Austrian opening defeats in the doubles. The top seeds Alexander Erler/Lucas Miedler lost to Ugo Blanchet/Matteo Martineau 4:6, 6:7(6), the two Frenchmen are well outside the top 200 in the doubles rankings and more than 200 places behind the two red-white-red top 50 players.
The defending champions Sam Weissborn/Philipp Oswald also suffered a quick exit, but their 5:7, 6:7(3) loss came against their compatriots Joel Schwärzler/Neil Oberleitner. On Thursday, Lukas Neumayer (10.30 a.m.), Schwärzler and Gerald Melzer (1st and 2nd match after 1 p.m.) will play their singles round of 16 matches.
