“Facade art casts a spell over our visitors”

Bleiburg is once again adorned with Werner Berg's works. Work lasted two days. Artist Andreas Schipek acted as "conductor".

More than 100 wall mountings, twelve printed foils weighing up to 100 kilograms by the master Werner Berg and lighting that mystically enlivens Bleiburg at night: this creative composition of façade hangings has been implemented in the artists' town for eight years. Master tinsmith Andreas Schipek holds the baton for the weatherproof depictions, which this year are dedicated to the "Werner Berg - Christine Lavant" show.

"We developed our own system eight years ago. Half of the mounts on the house walls remain inside, 50 are adjusted every year," says the artist. A printed oil painting also hangs on the façade of his house: "For us, it's like a beautiful blind; we can only see the light outlines of the pictures when they are illuminated at night." Twelve houses now exude artistic flair day and night.

Largest foil is 13 meters long
Berg grandson Harald Scheicher: "This proximity to the show out here breaks down barriers, it captivates our visitors." The largest printed film is 13 meters long. "The hanging on the façade is also proof of how much Bleiburg identifies with art and culture. This natural shading is cult," says museum director Arthur Ottowitz.

Today, Tuesday, there is free admission to the Werner Berg Museum, where the fateful five-year love affair (1950 to 1955) between Berg and Lavant can be followed both visually and in writing. The show opens at 7 pm. Tonč Feinig (keyboard), Silvia Igerc (zither) and Ottowitz (harmonica) will provide musical spice.
