Fügenberg: Tractor crashed over steep terrain

A terrible tragedy occurred on Saturday afternoon in Fügenberg in the Tyrolean district of Schwaz! A 61-year-old farmer crashed over a meadow while working in the fields with a tractor and was thrown out of the vehicle. All help came too late for him.

The fatal accident occurred at around 3 pm in the municipality of Fügenberg. The 61-year-old local man was working a field there with four helpers and drove the tractor vehicle over a forest road. At Gasthof Schellenberg, he then left the gravel road for an as yet unexplained reason, causing the tractor to fall around 50 meters over a steep field.

Resuscitation unsuccessful
The driver was thrown out of the cab and came to rest around ten meters above the wreckage. The emergency services called began resuscitation measures, but these were unsuccessful. The 61-year-old died at the scene of the accident.

The police are now investigating to determine the exact cause of the accident. In addition to the officers, 50 emergency services from the Fügen and Schlitters fire departments, the mountain rescue service and the crisis intervention team were on site, as well as the ambulance and emergency doctor by helicopter.
