“Burgtheater should have pulled the ripcord”
Lawyer Manfred Arbacher-Stöger criticizes the fact that Haus am Ring has been fully aware of the allegations against his client Florian Teichtmeister since 2021, but is now demanding compensation: "Those responsible had blinkers on."
The Burgtheater has done the math: 19,100 euros for a lawyer, 12,500 euros for labor law experts, 11,800 euros for crisis communication, 20,000 euros for the canceled play "Nebenan", 10,000 euros because a sponsor withdrew. And so on...
In total, Haus am Ring is demanding 94,493 euros in damages from Florian Teichtmeister, who was sentenced to two years' conditional imprisonment in September 2023 for possession and production of child pornography files.

Interview with Teichtmeister about allegations as early as 2021
"As soon as we learned that the actor named in the articles was Florian Teichtmeister, we summoned him to a meeting," writes the Burgtheater in its statement of 13 January 2023. The above-mentioned meeting took place in autumn 2021. The actor claims to have been deceived: "Florian Teichtmeister vehemently and credibly denied the allegations at the time," it says.
"The Burgtheater was fully aware of the allegations in 2021. As an employer, it should have pulled the ripcord, but it failed to do so," counters lawyer Manfred Arbacher-Stöger.
1500 hate postings on Burgtheater channels
During the hearing at the Labor and Social Court, the company did not paint a good picture of the internal communication processes. A lawyer from the legal department stated that he only found out about the case in 2023. The representatives of the Burgtheater in the ASG do not admit to any omissions, at most "naivety".
The wounds from the defamation against the tradition-steeped theater when Teichtmeister was accused are deep: "1,500 highly emotionally charged postings landed on our channels. We were accused of terrible things, including threatening phone calls and hostility," said senior employees as witnesses. However, the hate posters were not brought to court.
They only want money from one person: Florian Teichtmeister. But if his statements are true, there is nothing to be gained. The former castle actor reveals to the judge that his father, who had previously supported him, died two weeks ago. He is currently living on unemployment benefit.
