Learning to stand: Romina needs your help
Due to a congenital malformation of the hip joint, Romina has mainly been able to sit until now. Now she needs your help to learn to stand.
"Huwe 1", a genetic defect that has not yet been extensively researched. This sad news shocked mom Natascha Lerchbaumer from Feldkirchen seven years ago when her daughter was born. "Romina has a massive developmental delay, is small in stature and has left and right hip dysplasia, i.e. a congenital malformation of the hip joint," explains the mother.
Continuous care
It is above all the hurdles of everyday life that present a particular challenge. "She can neither walk nor speak. Romina crawls from room to room and the only thing she can say is mummy. If she needs something, she screams. Otherwise, it really is 24/7 full care," says 28-year-old Natascha.
Muscles need to be trained
Romina has a total of three different wheelchair-accessible buggies that she uses to get around. All of them are designed for sitting. Following a referral from the paediatric and adolescent surgery department, Romina now needs to be fitted with a so-called standing frame so that she can train her muscles, especially in her legs, and practise standing upright. The young mother is saddened by the extremely high costs involved: "Life costs so much. I look after my little grinch around the clock, but I'm really struggling financially. The standing frame is so important, but it costs 4026.76 euros. Money that's simply not there. I find it difficult to accept help. But Romina's development is more important."
You can help
And in this case, the "Krone" family can help. The "Die Krone hilft - Kärnten" association is collecting donations to help get through the worst. If you would also like to help so that Romina gets her support stand, please donate to the account IBAN: AT45 3900 0000 0591 9006
