Motorcyclist was thrown through the air
A serious motorcycle accident occurred on Saturday in Carinthia near Maria Rain. In the course of a collision with a car, a motorcyclist was thrown several meters through the air.
An 81-year-old man from Klagenfurt was traveling on the Loiblpass road (B 91) from Klagenfurt towards Ferlach at around 1.10 pm. At the inn in Unterschloßberg near Maria Rain, he wanted to turn left into the inn's parking lot. At the same time, a 49-year-old man from the district of Klagenfurt was driving his motorcycle in the direction of Klagenfurt. As the car driver turned, the two vehicles collided.


The biker crashed into the side of the rear of the car and was thrown several meters through the air. He came to rest seriously injured in the opposite lane and had to be taken by ambulance to Klagenfurt University Hospital after first aid. The 81-year-old and his passenger were uninjured. Both vehicles sustained considerable material damage. In addition to the ambulance and police, the Köttmannsdorf and Kirschentheuer volunteer fire departments were also deployed with a total of 36 men/women and four vehicles.
