Wild scenes took place on Saturday night in Vienna's Leopoldstadt district. A thuggish cab driver (33) first harassed a driver in the middle of the road, then overtook him and finally forced him to stop and threatened him with a knife.

Shortly after midnight, the suspect drove up close several times to ask the driver to speed up. "When the cab driver managed to overtake the vehicle in front of him, he allegedly cut off the other driver and forced him to stop," reported police spokeswoman Julia Schick. When he got out of the car, he also pulled out a knife. He then got back in and sped off.

Cab driver denies the crime
A short time later, the 33-year-old was stopped by the police. A Stanley knife was recovered from his car. After a provisional arrest and questioning, during which the accused denied everything, he was released.
