Search operation for missing woman in the Glemmtal valley
A woman had been missing in the Glemmtal valley in Salzburg since the night hours of Easter Monday. The victim had not returned home after a walk. Water rescuers found the woman dead in the Saalach in the afternoon. The circumstances of her death are still unclear.
The alarm was raised at 1.41 am, Salzburg's water rescuers reported. Relatives had called the emergency services in Saalbach-Hinterglemm after the woman had not returned after a walk with her dog. The four-legged friend came home alone.
Background still completely unclear
In addition to the water rescuers, emergency services from the Red Cross and the police were also deployed to the search operation. The water rescuers used rafting boats to search in the five-degree water. The woman was finally found dead in the afternoon, the police confirmed in response to a "Krone" inquiry: "An autopsy has been ordered." It will be investigated whether a heart attack or other physical ailments were the cause of the woman's death. According to the police, nothing can be ruled out at the moment. The woman was a 50-year-old from Lower Austria who also lived in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.
