Cigarettes will be more expensive again in April!

Philip Morris and DanCzek are increasing their prices again at the beginning of April by between 20 and 30 cents for several types of cigarettes. The popular smoking alternative "Heets" for the e-cigarette Iqos will also be 20 cents more expensive.

Some cigarette brands will see price increases again at the beginning of April. The tobacco company Philip Morris will increase the prices for brands such as Chesterfield, Marlboro and Philip Morris by 20 cents and L&M Red and Blue Label by 30 cents per pack, according to a list in the trade newspaper "Trafikanten Zeitung". Tobacco for heating (HEETS) will also be 20 cents more expensive. DanCzek is increasing cigarette prices for several varieties by 10 cents to 5.40 euros.

Tax on tobacco increased
The reason for the increase is the tobacco tax hike. The tobacco group JTI, which in Austria owns the former Austria Tabak and the tobacco wholesaler Tobaccoland, had already increased prices at the beginning of March. Benson & Hedges Gold, various Camel varieties, Meine Sorte, Memphis Strato Blue and Smart Export have cost 20 cents more per pack since March 4, according to the "Trafikanten Zeitung".

Cigarette prices also rose by an average of 30 cents per pack last year. On average, a pack costs 5.77 euros in this country. A pack of Marlboro will cost 6.50 euros from April 2.
