18-year-old crashed his car into a crash barrier
Shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday, the sirens sounded in Stein im Jauntal. An 18-year-old driver from the district of Klagenfurt-Land had left the road in his car on the St. Kanzianer Landesstraße (L116) and crashed into the crash barrier.
It is not yet known why the 18-year-old lost control of his vehicle on a right-hand bend from Seidendorf in the direction of Tainach. He crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed into the crash barrier of a bridge. The driver and two other occupants were uninjured in the accident, the 17-year-old passenger had to be taken by ambulance to Klagenfurt Accident Hospital with injuries of indeterminate severity.
The alcohol test was negative. The vehicle was a total loss. The L116 was briefly closed for the duration of the clearing and towing work. The Stein im Jauntal volunteer fire department carried out safety work, looked after the vehicle occupants and also had to disconnect the vehicle's battery as the horn had a short circuit.
