FavAC kickers take part
Mauritius instead of favorites! “Makes us all proud”
Pride prevails at Eastern League side FavAC. Allan Wan Kut Kai has been called up and is in action with the Mauritius national team in the Africa Cup qualifiers. The Young Violets will have to do without numerous youth internationals against Sportclub on Friday (19.30).
"He has a very good character, is a great person and always wants to win," praised FavAC coach Dozhghar Kadir Allan Wan Kut Kai. He will be missing from the Eastern League club's home game against Krems on Friday for good reason - the "eighth man" has been called up to the Mauritius national team and will face Chad in the preliminary round of the Africa Cup qualifiers on Friday, with the second leg awaiting on March 26. "That makes us all extremely proud, it's an honor for the club, it doesn't happen every day."
Kai has been in Austria for six months and also has French citizenship. "He completed a trial training session with us and quickly won me over. Kai brings a good package with him, his overview and balls into the deep are his great strengths," enthuses Kadir. How is communication going on and off the pitch? "We talk in English, but I have 19 nationalities in my team, so we sometimes use our hands and feet to communicate."
While the Young Violets are visiting Sportclub today, they are heavily weakened. Because eight players are away with the national youth teams, Violett are missing six regular players. Which is why they wanted to postpone the game, but the Dornbachers did not go along. "The economic (crowds of fans) and infrastructural (construction sites for the water pipe renewal right next to the stadium) factors are decisive for this," explained vice-boss David Krapf-Günther.
