Cats as the target of an animal hater?
Outdoor cats live on dangerous paws in Parndorf, Burgenland. A stranger shot the family cat "Cosmo" - apparently at close range - with a shotgun. The animal is not an isolated case.
When "Cosmo" didn't come home in the evening after a walk outside, her family was already worried - the cat was found apathetic and covered in blood in the garage the next day. "She must have been in extreme pain. We took her to the animal hospital straight away," says the shocked owner.

The suspicion that the cat had a gunshot wound was confirmed after x-rays at the animal hospital: "Cosmo" had been shot with a shotgun.
The problem seems to be well known in the village. Because "Cosmo" is not an isolated case. Only recently, two other velvet paws lost their lives in the wild - they succumbed to gunshot wounds.
The X-ray shows numerous metal or shotgun splinters close together in the cat's shoulder area. It can be concluded that the animal was shot at close range.

"In such a densely populated residential area, many households have house pets that are allowed to roam free. But there are also people who don't like animals," says a concerned cat lover. In addition, a hunter is allowed to shoot a cat if it is more than 300 meters away from the nearest inhabited house.
"Krone" animal corner helps with vet costs
"Cosmo" was apparently shot in the back. She has been undergoing treatment at the vet clinic for days and the costs continue to rise. In this case, our "Krone" animal corner has pledged support in the amount of 1200 euros. In order to finance the treatment of her beloved four-legged friend, the desperate cat owner has launched an appeal for donations.
