At Lake Wolfgangsee
Saint Wolfgang and the devil as musical stars
"Wolf - The Mystical" will be performed on a specially constructed lakeside stage on Lake Wolfgang from May 23rd. The Upper Austrian author Franzobel is responsible for the text, the music is by Gerd Hermann Ortler. And: the title song is by the legendary band Opus. A new summer highlight!
To mark the 1100th birthday of St. Wolfgang, Lake Wolfgang is celebrating the "Wolfgang Year" and is also launching a new cultural event: the municipalities of St. Wolfgang, Strobl and St. Gilgen are promoting "Wolf - The Mystical", a musical.
An adventure through and through
The Upper Austrian author Franzobel revisits the life of the saint, saying: "Wolfgang was a completely normal person - he could only become a saint by playing against the devil." Director Viktoria Schubert goes over it again to dramatize "Franzobel's clouds of text". Composer Gerd Hermann Ortler is currently putting the finishing touches to this unusual stage adventure.
Legendary band with title song
He promises an "arc from the mysticism of the Middle Ages to minimal music, rock and jazz". And now it's clear: Konstantin Zander plays the holy title character, Anna Mateur can be seen in the role of the devil. And the legendary cult band Opus ("Live Is Life") is contributing the title song together with the Schick Sisters.
The summer highlight presented by the "Krone" has its world premiere on May 23. Architect Eduard Neversal, winner of a competition, is building a new lake stage and backdrop on the shores of Lake Wolfgang, where you can travel by boat as part of the production.
By the way: demand for tickets for "Wolf - The Mystical" is high, around 60 percent have already been sold.
