On the Tauern highway
235 km/h! Speeding with a stolen Taferl on the road
A maximum of 100 km/h is permitted on this section of the Tauernautobahn (A10), but an incorrigible driver was traveling at a whopping 235 km/h near Salzburg-Süd. The whole thing happened on February 15 - only now has the speeding driver been tracked down ...
The radar measurement was taken shortly before 1 a.m. on February 15. During the analysis, the officers discovered that the license plates of the speeding car had already been reported stolen in October of the previous year.
Driver confesses
A few days ago, the vehicle was finally found in an underground parking garage in St. Johann. The driver, a 21-year-old from Pongau, quickly confessed. He admitted that he had not received a registration for his car and had therefore stolen the license plates.
Escape from civilian police patrol
He had committed the speeding offense because he thought a civilian police patrol was following him. After noticing the radar measurement that had been triggered, he threw the stolen license plates into the Salzach and then parked the car in the underground garage. Several charges await him.
