These are real heroes! Wearing heavy breathing apparatus, the professionals from the Wels fire department rescued a tenant from suffocation during a kitchen fire on the eleventh floor of a high-rise building on Tuesday afternoon. The 75-year-old woman had presumably collapsed unconscious in the anteroom while fleeing the flames.

The Wels police were called to an apartment fire at around 3.30 pm on Tuesday. On arrival, smoke could be detected on the 11th floor of the building. The fire department used heavy breathing apparatus to rescue people and then carried out an initial fire-fighting operation in the apartment in question.

The door was forced open
To do this, the door to the apartment had to be forced open. The fire department rescued the 75-year-old occupant, who was lying unconscious on the floor in the anteroom of the apartment. She was injured to an indeterminate degree and was taken to Wels Hospital after receiving emergency medical treatment.

The fire department then extinguished the fire in the kitchen area and the glazing to the loggia of the apartment.
