Brother saves his sisters from fire

For his two "little" sisters, he is now the hero: on Sunday morning, a 19-year-old from Steyr saved them from a fire that had broken out in the kitchen of their shared apartment. The trigger was a classic homecoming ritual from going away.

The 18-year-old sister had come home from a party at around 5 a.m. and wanted to cook something for herself. She put a pan on the stove and switched it on. She then went to sleep. A little later, her 19-year-old brother was woken by the smell of smoke. He rushed into the kitchen, discovered the fire and woke his two sisters, the younger of whom is 14 years old.

Failed to extinguish the fire himself
He then tried to fight the fire with a fire extinguisher. As this was no longer possible, all three left the apartment and fled to the neighbors, from where the fire department was called. The firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the rooms. All three siblings were taken to Steyr Hospital.
