Rolled 200 meters
Driverless car crashes into house in Schwaz
This incident could have turned out much worse: When the driver got out of the car on a sloping road in Schwaz, Tyrol, on Monday morning, the car started moving and rolled 200 meters down a hill until it finally crashed into the front of a house.
The 41-year-old driver was driving on the Freundsberg municipal road in Schwaz at around 10.50 a.m. on Monday and got out of the car with the engine running to put a note on the door of an apartment. At that moment, the car started moving and rolled backwards down the road.
The car could not be stopped
The local man tried to stop the car, but was unable to do so. He injured his ankle in the process.
The car continued to roll for around 200 meters across a slightly sloping meadow. It then broke through a garden fence and crashed into the front of a house. This damaged the front door of the house, but fortunately the residents were uninjured.
Fire department recovered the car
The 41-year-old driver went to Schwaz Hospital on his own, where doctors diagnosed a bruised right ankle. The company car was a total loss and had to be recovered by the Schwaz fire department.
