Lucky (or swan)! A white waterfowl owes its professional rescue to an attentive neighbor. Because it couldn't get enough of a run-up to take off, it had to be rescued from the roof of a house in Ansfelden on Thursday by the animal rescue service and two volunteer fire departments.  

After a swan landed on the roof of a neighboring house and was unable to get off after several hours due to a lack of a running start, a concerned woman from Ansfelden called the Upper Austrian animal rescue service for help on Thursday. Its chairman, Willy Schnebel, contacted the Freindorf volunteer fire department.

Still recovering
Together with the Nettingsdorf fire department, they immediately set off to bring the animal rescuer to the roof of the house, which had been heated up by the afternoon sun. Using a net and cat box, the uninjured but severely weakened swan was brought down from the roof. He is currently recovering with the animal rescuers and will be released on Monday at the latest.
