Teenager killed in an accident in Hohenems

A fatal accident occurred in the Vorarlberg municipality of Hohenems on Saturday night. A 17-year-old crashed his bike onto the road in front of an underpass. He died from his serious injuries.

As reported by the police, the accident with dramatic consequences occurred at 0.55 a.m. on Saturday on the Bahnäckerstraße cycle path in Hohenems. A 17-year-old boy was riding his bike towards the city center. For reasons as yet unknown, he then left the cycle path directly in front of an underpass and rode onto the meadow on the right.

There he fell from the top of the underpass onto the road below. A cyclist following behind immediately called the emergency services and began initial resuscitation measures, which were continued by the quickly arriving emergency services and the emergency doctor. However, the 17-year-old had suffered such serious injuries as a result of the fall that he died at the scene of the accident.

The emergency services were deployed with an emergency doctor, six emergency personnel and two vehicles, the Hohenems fire department with one vehicle and two emergency personnel, two crisis intervention teams and the police with four patrols and a police doctor.
