Man (25) punches police officer several times in the face

A 25-year-old man is believed to have threatened employees in Vienna-Leopoldstadt on Thursday, whereupon the police tried to arrest him. He behaved extremely uncooperatively and aggressively.

Police officers were called to an incident in the second district at around 8.45 a.m. on Thursday, where a man was in an establishment despite being banned from the premises and was threatening the staff there.

On site, the police officers noticed that the 25-year-old reacted extremely aggressively and refused to identify himself. He suddenly grabbed one of the officers by the protective vest and pulled him towards him. Despite the arrest being announced, the suspect put up considerable resistance and punched one of the police officers several times in the face. With the support of other officers, the 25-year-old was finally arrested despite his resistance.

Drugs also seized
Small quantities of narcotics were seized during the search. Both two police officers and the arrested man were injured in the incident.

Further investigations revealed that the suspect had already threatened a lecturer during a course in the previous days and had physically assaulted another participant. The man was reported several times, but he did not confess during questioning. After consultation with the Vienna public prosecutor's office, he was released.
