A mysterious accident in Innsbruck on Wednesday: a seven-year-old claimed to have been hit by the car of a local woman (55) and pushed onto the grass verge. However, the driver of the car is convinced that she braked in time after the child suddenly fell onto the road. The boy suffered injuries. The police are now looking for witnesses.

The 55-year-old Austrian woman was driving her car east along Schützenstraße in Innsbruck at around 12.45 p.m. and stopped at the junction with Rotadlerstraße due to a red traffic light. "According to the driver, some children were crossing Schützenstraße on the east side of the protective path in a southerly direction," said the police.

When the traffic lights turned green again, the woman continued her journey. "According to her, a child fell from the grassy area onto the road at the level of the safety path, although the driver said she was able to stop her car in time and did not come into contact with the child, a 7-year-old boy," said the investigators.

In the course of initial questioning, however, the child stated that he had been hit by a car and pushed into the grass verge there. The 7-year-old was taken to Innsbruck Hospital by the ambulance service with minor injuries. "Due to the differing accounts of the course of the accident and the fact that no witnesses could be identified at the scene, we are hoping for useful information," emphasizes the police (VI Innsbruck: 059133-7591).
