Director passes away
Between mourning and anticipation of the premiere
The Spielkreis Götzis is in the final spurt of rehearsals for the play "Die Wirtin". The sudden death of the director is a particular challenge for the group.
Although these are sad circumstances, it is a matter of honor for the participants to continue Roland Ellensohn's legacy with this production. The stage manager and director passed away unexpectedly on April 6. With the support of the association, his last directorial work will nevertheless go ahead as planned. "As assistant director, I was able to experience the passion and precision with which our director Roland worked on this project during 120 hours of rehearsals," says Lisa Schöpf, who has now been put in charge.
A big task for all those involved
Despite the emotional rollercoaster between sadness and anticipation of the premiere, the whole company is focused on bringing the play to the stage in Götzis in the spirit of the universally popular and unique director. "The production team has grown into a small family. We will do everything we can to show Roland's latest and last directorial signature on stage," says actress Teresa Marte about the great legacy.
I consider it a great honor that the team has placed so much trust in me. I am infinitely grateful for the collaboration with Roland and for everything I was able to learn from him.

Thanks to Ellensohn's motivation, actress Sabine Allgäuer has also found her way back onto the theater stage. "Roland believed in me. It was only thanks to his encouragement that I dared to slip back into the role of Mirandolina after a long break as an active actress," she says.

A game with unexpected consequences
For many years, the members of the Spielkreis Götzis have been staging plays across all genres. "Die Wirtin" by Peter Turrini, freely adapted from Goldoni, is full of humor and depth. "The play is light and ironic, but at the same time it provides stimulating and serious food for thought between the lines," says Teresa Marte, who plays the role of "Ortensia".

The plot promises an entertaining evening of theater: Mirandolina, a much sought-after landlady, has her hands full keeping the men at bay - from the love-struck Marchese to the waiter. Only the self-confessed misogynist Cavaliere can tempt the landlady out of her shell. And she tries to ensnare him with all the means of female seduction. The game begins and has unexpected consequences...
