The international sports betting provider should have transferred the 502,107 euros awarded by the court back to the Salzburg family man by the end of 2023. The case has been going through all court instances for four years before the Supreme Court reached a decision. However, the once betting-addicted man cannot yet breathe a sigh of relief.
"My client has always been interested in sport and is a huge soccer fan. He got into sports betting through friends," says lawyer Johannes Koman, who has fought the spectacular case through all instances over the last four years. Koman is representing a family man from Salzburg Land, for whom the hobby quickly became an addiction at the end of 2017. "He lost control, sometimes placing individual bets with stakes of more than 100,000 euros."
