Duo arrested
Car set on fire, police officers attacked with a bottle
Two Poles, aged 36 and 45, caused a fire department and police operation in Innsbruck on Thursday night. One of the suspects is said to have set fire to a car, the other attacked the police officers who intervened. Both were arrested.
Shortly after midnight, a car went up in flames in Innsbruck's Dr.-Franz-Werner Straße. The alerted fire department was able to quickly bring the fire under control and extinguish it. The car and the adjacent building façade sustained considerable damage.
Two suspects in the vicinity
In the course of the police investigations at the scene, the officers were finally able to locate two Polish men in the immediate vicinity and confront them. "There was a suspicion of arson", according to the police.
Police arrested both men
Based on witness information, the 45-year-old was finally arrested as a suspect. The 36-year-old, on the other hand, had behaved extremely aggressively during the official action. "He also threw a drinks bottle at the officers. However, he was able to fend it off," the investigators continued. He was also arrested.
Both suspects were still in police custody on Thursday. Further investigations are ongoing.
