2.2 billion euros:
S-Link route to Hallein finally available
The S-Link company has now presented the further route to Hallein. The total cost of the recommended corridor is 2.2 billion euros. However, the city of Salzburg will not be providing any money for the subway project for the time being.
Until now, only the underground crossing through the city of Salzburg as far as Alpenstraße had been determined. Now the rest of the route is also available. The key data up to Hallein station were presented on Wednesday.
According to the planners' recommendation, the S-Link should come back to the surface at Alpenstraße in the Friedensstraße area and then run above ground in the middle of the roadway. There will be a significant change in Anif: The main road, and therefore the car traffic that runs from the A10 towards the town and back, is to disappear below the surface and the S-Link will run above ground.
The route in detail
Further south: In the Neu-Anif area, the route moves closer to the highway. It will cross the Königsseeache via a new bridge. In Rif, a stop is planned at the provincial sports center, in Rehhof near the B159, then the tracks will continue above ground over the Salzach and past the Binder company, connecting Oberalm and joining the ÖBB tracks.
The costs for the recommended overall solution amount to 2.2 billion euros. The S-Link company emphasized on Wednesday that the funding commitment from the federal government amounting to 50 percent of the project costs is still in place.
The City of Salzburg announced that it would not be contributing to the costs for the time being. The test drillings in the old town area have also been stopped.
