Dispute over new road construction: threat of compulsory expropriation

The fronts are hardening in the dispute over the planned new construction of the Feldbacher Straße/B68: Transport Minister and Deputy Governor Anton Lang (SPÖ) can no longer rule out the possibility of expropriating affected property owners. The Greens rage.

The next stage of escalation in the conflict surrounding the new B68 infrastructure project, which has been simmering for years. Farmers in particular are opposing the construction of the new road in the Raabtal valley, as has been reported several times. And for understandable reasons: suitable replacement areas for their fields, which they would have to give up for the new road construction, are now in short supply and quite a few would look through their fingers.
