Drassburg in the "cellar"
“We still believe in staying in the league”
The 1:3 in the derby against Oberwart was a bitter blow in the relegation battle. Can Draßburg still stay in the Ostliga? However, they can hardly afford to "fall over".
Changing the system with the score at 1:1 around ten minutes before the end, or to be more precise, ordering a central defender to the front, is not common practice in a league match. Draßburg then conceded two more goals and lost the important Eastern League derby against Oberwart. But ASV put all their eggs in one basket and would obviously not have been satisfied with a draw. In the end, however, they were left empty-handed.
"Super morale"
"The change was also communicated to the team. We really wanted to win. In our situation, a point doesn't help much," said Draßburg coach Michael Porics.
Which he is right about. However, the defeat means that Oberwart are now out of reach for good and the number of teams that can - or rather must - be caught is getting smaller and smaller.
"We will need five wins from the remaining seven games.
Draßburgs Coach Michael Porics über den Abstiegskampf
"But we still believe in it. The boys' morale is top, the spirit is outstanding. We're certainly not throwing in the towel now," said Porics. If four clubs are relegated from the Eastern League, the red and gold representative's train has probably already left the station. There is hope with three. "But we'll need five wins from the remaining seven games for that," says the coach.
