ÖVP and SPÖ argue
Who is lying? “The criticism is made up out of thin air”
Following the withdrawal of the SPÖ parliamentary group from the meeting in Ollersdorf, the ÖVP local leader firmly rejects the accusations of not acting correctly and stands by the working method.
The criticism from Deputy Mayor Tanja Illedits that her SPÖ parliamentary group receives documents too late or not at all surprises ÖVP Mayor Bernd Strobl.
The SPÖ had recently made three representations and the pages had always been handed over. Illedits confirmed the handover and inspection of the files for the municipal council meeting on March 29 with his signature. "Certain records cannot be handed over immediately if, for example, they are subject to a deadline or a tender is still in progress," explains Strobl.
Bad luck with Good Friday
Contrary to further criticism from the SPÖ, board meetings are indeed held once a quarter. And the fact that the last municipal council meeting was scheduled on Good Friday, 29 March, of all days, was not intentional, Strobl emphasizes. "The date was announced during the meeting on December 29, 2023, and the minutes were signed by the deputy mayor. It was only later that we realized what a special day it was," explains Strobl.
The SPÖ then refused to bring forward the date to March 27, as many elected representatives were already scheduled to attend. "Other proposals were also out of the question because dates are often tied to deadlines," said the mayor.
As reported, the SPÖ parliamentary group had left the meeting on Good Friday in protest. Strobl maintains his criticism of Illedits ("notorious liar"): "I no longer talk to someone who says things about me that are untrue."
