Car burns out in Lochau

A driver had a stroke of luck on Monday in the Vorarlberg municipality of Lochau. His car caught fire, but nothing happened to him.  

A driver was driving in Lochau late on Monday evening. Because he had already noticed a suspicious smell while refueling, he parked his car outside rather than in an underground garage as usual at around 11 pm.

A short time later, flames were already shooting out of the hood and thick smoke was rising. The emergency services contacted the owner of the car by telephone as he was not at the scene. The car could no longer be saved, but fortunately no one else was injured.

Fifteen members of the Lochau fire department and two police patrols were deployed. The cause of the fire was probably a technical defect.
