Gang plundered ten Styrian construction sites
A whopping ten burglaries can be attributed to them: a group of five Romanians (four men and one woman) are said to have committed a series of burglaries across Styria in 2023. Now detectives from Sankt Michael have arrested two suspects who led them to the head of the gang.
A break-in at a building site in St. Michael in Upper Styria led to the gang being uncovered. Detectives succeeded in arresting two suspects during a vehicle stop in the course of the immediate search operation. The two Romanian nationals (27 and 31) were then successfully convicted of the theft of scaffolding and formwork panels.

And it got even better for the detectives: the two perpetrators led them to another 27-year-old, who was probably the head of the gang. He is believed to have masterminded break-ins at various construction sites in the districts of Leoben, Murtal and the city of Graz. The main items stolen were construction machinery and electrical tools, which they transported away in a van and stored in a garage in Murtal.
Hundreds of thousands of euros in damage
A 50-year-old and a 47-year-old Romanian are also believed to have been direct perpetrators. All suspects have been reported to the public prosecutor's office in Leoben. They are said to have caused hundreds of thousands of euros in damage. During a house search, a large part of the loot was found and subsequently returned to the rightful owners.
