Overheated battery caused a fire in a house

Fire alarm on Friday in a detached house in Wenns, Tyrol (Imst district)! A fire had broken out on the kitchen counter, presumably due to an overheated battery. Fortunately, nobody was injured.

The sirens sounded in Wenns at around 5 pm. "A fire broke out in a detached house. It can be assumed that the cause of the fire was an overheated battery connected to the power grid," said the police.

Fire extinguished by owner
A smouldering fire spread to the adjacent wall of the building due to the intense heat generated by the battery, which had been placed on a kitchen counter. "There were no people in the house at the time of the fire," said the police. The owner of the house was able to bring the fire under control on his own, at the same time the Wenns volunteer fire department was notified, which secured the site of the fire to prevent it from spreading.
