Tragic accident
Man hit by car on Rhine Valley highway: dead
A fatal traffic accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning on the A14 near Nenzing (Vorarlberg). A 23-year-old man crashed into the center guardrail and got out of his vehicle after the accident. Shortly afterwards, he was hit by an oncoming car and fatally injured. The Romanian died of his serious injuries at the scene of the accident.
Early on Thursday morning, a 23-year-old man from Romania skidded his car on the A14 near the Nenzing slip road for unknown reasons. The vehicle hit the center guardrail and finally came to a stop in the middle of the road.
The driver got out of the car. At the same time, a 48-year-old man was also driving his car on the A14 in the direction of Germany. At the Nenzing slip road, he wanted to make way for the vehicles turning onto the highway so that he could get into the lane.
To this end, he drove into the overtaking lane. There he probably overlooked the Romanian's car. The 48-year-old's car hit both the Romanian citizen and his vehicle. The 23-year-old was trapped under the vehicle as a result of the head-on collision. The 48-year-old's car came to a halt around 30 meters away. Witnesses to the accident rescued the Romanian from under the car and administered first aid. However, despite these measures, the man died at the scene of the accident.
The 48-year-old Austrian injured his left hand in the crash and was taken to hospital. While the accident was being investigated, the A14 in the direction of Germany was closed for almost four hours between the Nenzing exit and the Frastanz exit.
