Parking privileges for three clubs raise questions
From May, parking at the Toscana parking lot in Gmunden will be subject to a charge. There is a particularly big fuss about the annual ticket. This is only available to members of three clubs located on Lake Traunsee. The Neos have announced a legal investigation due to suspected discrimination.
Anyone who is a member of the yacht club, rowing club or fishing club in Gmunden can rejoice. On Monday, the municipal council, with votes from the VP and the Greens, decided on a special privilege for members of these three clubs. For "only" 25...euros, they will receive an annual ticket for the Toscana parking lot, which will be subject to charges from May. The clubs may also take over the administration of the annual tickets and issue them to their members.
Special regulation for bathers
However, anyone who cannot prove membership of one of the three organizations will pay 25 euros per month. Unless they have a lido season ticket or a lido cabin. In this case, a "season ticket" for the months of May to September is available for 25...euros. Only one benefit is possible per household.
No parking space guarantee
However, there is no parking space guarantee for monthly, annual or season ticket holders. Quite a few people consider the regulations to be extremely questionable anyway. "We will have the fee regulation legally reviewed. It contradicts the principle of equality and is discriminatory," says Neos city councillor Philipp Wiatschka.
Criticism of new bureaucratic monster
He is convinced that the new fare regulations have created a bureaucratic monster. He cites the day ticket as an example. In future, this will cost eight euros for 24 hours. However, visitors to the lido who park their car in the Toscana parking lot and show a receipt at the pool ticket office can get four euros back. The baths leaseholder must then settle accounts with the city in order to be reimbursed the four euros.
