Trial in Feldkirch
Angry death threat against AMS department head
An unemployed Turk went berserk at the Bregenz employment service because he did not receive an advance. The man had to answer for his unruliness at the Feldkirch regional court on Wednesday.
It is obvious that the accused has an aggression problem. Ten entries in his criminal record, most of them for assault, are proof of this. On Wednesday, the incorrigible man received his next conviction. This time for making dangerous threats.
Advance payment refused
The case: At the end of November, the then unemployed Turk turned up unannounced at his caseworker's office at the Bregenz employment service and wanted money. When he refuses to give him the advance, the petitioner becomes extremely unpleasant.
In view of their many previous convictions, they must be aware that the next time they commit an offense, they will go to prison for a long time.
Mahnende Worte von Richter Dietmar Nussbaumer an den Angeklagten
Whereupon the department manager intervenes and takes care of the raging client. But the 29-year-old throws her compromise offer of at least 70 euros in advance to the wind. And that's not all: now beside himself with rage, he threatens the woman: "I'll stab you!" The shocked woman presses charges.
Although the aggressive man later apologizes by telephone for his behaviour, the offence of making a dangerous threat to a public official remains.
"Now everything is right in my head again"
During the trial, the man, who has already received psychiatric treatment several times in the past, is sympathetic. "I once completed anti-violence training during an inpatient stay many years ago," he says. He is currently also taking appropriate medication. "Now everything is working properly in my head again."
Another point in his favor is that the accused now has a job again and a regular income. Which is why Judge Dietmar Nussbaumer is giving him one last chance - thanks to the possibility of an ankle bracelet.
The final sentence is eight months in prison, six of which are suspended. The judge mercifully refrained from revoking a previous prison sentence, but extended the probationary period to five years and ordered probation assistance.
Whereupon the convict expresses his gratitude and promises in front of witnesses: "I will remain calm in future and control my aggression."
