Caught on the way back
Drunk driver simply gets into the wrong vehicle
It can happen, especially if you've had too much to drink. A 20-year-old Viennese can now also report this, who took someone else's car to drive to his parents' house after a clubbing session. Hours later, he realized his mistake and immediately made the next one
In the early hours of Sunday morning, a car was stolen from the parking lot of the Forster Alm - where clubbing had taken place that night - by an unknown person. The car owner filed a complaint. During the immediate manhunt, the police spotted the car on the B121 in the Weyer area and stopped it.
Unknown car "discovered"
The driver, a 20-year-old from Vienna, explained that he had previously found the car parked at the driveway of his parents' house in Weyer. He therefore wanted to bring it back to the Forster Alm parking lot.
Residual alcohol detected
According to the current state of the investigation, the 20-year-old probably got into the unlocked car at around 4 a.m., found the car keys in a jacket and then drove home heavily intoxicated. After waking up shortly after midday, he noticed the car in the driveway and wanted to return it, according to the 20-year-old. An alcohol test was positive.
Several reports
The car was returned undamaged to the owner of the registration. The 20-year-old was reported to the Steyr public prosecutor's office on suspicion of unauthorized use of vehicles and to the Steyr-Land district authority for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
