“We could have filled the stadium 2-3 times”
DSV Leoben is the only two-league team to reach the semi-finals of the ÖFB Cup. In the krone.tv sports talk with presenter Martin Grasl, chairman Mario Bichler and managing director Anderas Hämmerle provide an insight into the preparations. "We could have filled the stadium two or three times over," says Bichler, who expects around 9,000 spectators at Monte Schlacko. In addition to the sporting delicacies of 2024, the case surrounding alleged black money payments, which have put the club and individuals in a bad light, will also be discussed once again.
"People will be held accountable"
In mid-December, anonymous tips were received about alleged fraudulent activities at the traditional Styrian club. Individual officials, including chairman Mario Bichler, were at the center of the investigation. After two months, the Leobeners prove their innocence, but don't want to leave the case so easily. "People are held accountable," argues Bichler, who wants to focus on sport and the "Mission 2028" from now on. The semi-final match in the ÖFB Cup against Rapid awaits on April 3. The record champions have been making negative headlines in recent days, and Hämmerle regrets that the entire image of Austrian soccer is suffering as a result. Watch the video to find out more!
