Drugs, firecrackers: Mother reports her own son (14)

Great concern about explosive finds in her son's room drove a woman straight to the nearest police station in Lower Austria. Her son and his friend are now facing numerous charges.

It's not always easy to keep secrets from your parents, especially when you still live in the same household. This was the experience of a 14-year-old from a small community in the district of Krems. It even led him straight to the police. His own mother had reported him to the police.

The woman had previously made shocking discoveries in her son's bedroom. She had found several substances there that were completely unknown to her, as well as a number of pyrotechnic objects, the danger of which the worried woman was also unable to properly assess.

Examined in the laboratory
The investigators seized all the items. An initial rapid test showed no result, at least for the white powder. It will now be sent to a laboratory for closer examination. "A rapid test only reacts to the most common substances", the police are not yet able to assess whether it is a narcotic after all.

The result is clearer for the 62 rockets and firecrackers collected. They are all categorized as F2 (only from the age of 16) and F3 (only for explosives experts), so the young man should not have been allowed to own them in the first place. However, he did not buy them, the teenager asserts. A friend had given them to him.

188 banned firecrackers
So the police also rang the doorbell at the 15-year-old's parents' house. There, the officers came across a veritable pyrotechnics store. No fewer than 188 pieces were found there, some of them even of the most dangerous category F4. None of them had a test mark or a label in German. "They were therefore probably bought at the Czech border," the police say. The two boys now face numerous charges.
